Jim Ross, now a WWE consultant, seems to keep hinting that something about Zack Ryder's gimmick doesn't work.
Ross, who's careful in how he answers fans on his blog, has twice been asked why WWE killed Ryder's momentum in 2011 when his YouTube show took off and why the company hasn't endeavored to revive it.
Ross, who's careful in how he answers fans on his blog, has twice been asked why WWE killed Ryder's momentum in 2011 when his YouTube show took off and why the company hasn't endeavored to revive it.
"Ryder has to continue to work hard on his game and hope that the right role comes his way. It's like being cast into an on going soap opera and one has to be placed in the proper role," Ross said.
Another time, Ross said, "I don't agree with your philosophy of giving up as many of us have had to ply our trade for years and overcome obstacles to achieve success. Timing is every thing and if it's meant to be then Zach will emerge on the other side."
"Quitting solves nothing. Without question Ryder had a cult like following and his days of becoming a main stream star can still happen," Ross said.
When Ross was recently on Steve Austin's blog, he noted Superstars can only get so far if their characters rely primarily on comedy. Kevin Nash once noted Vince McMahon isn't a big fan of underdog characters. McMahon prefers badasses who can kick everyone's butt.
Is Ross saying there's no place for Ryder's comical gimmick in the current WWE and that his fans aren't sizable enough to justify pushing him? Is this why Ryder is tweaking his character? What do you think?
