A veteran wrestler indicates John Cena's elbow injury isn't why he'll be gone for four to six months.
"John has been dealing with a large left elbow bursitis,” WWE physician Michael Sampson told WWE.com on August 20. "We did an MRI which showed a partial triceps tear. Being the warrior that he is, he did not want to have surgery [forcing him to cancel his SummerSlam match].”
But a veteran wrestler says Cena's swollen left elbow appears to be a typical injury resulting from regularly taking bumps. "We all get it from when we bump over and over," the wrestler said. "And our Bursa sac pops (like Cena's), creating a huge amount of liquid at the end of our elbows."
Cena's elbow injury can be treated by simply draining the fluid that has accumulated inside of it. If anything, Cena's time off will be spent recovering from the partial triceps tear surgery. NFL players who have undergone this kind of surgery have missed entire 17-week seasons.
The former WWE Champ emphasized more the triceps injury than the elbow injury when he updated fans about his condition during the August 19 edition of Raw. Cena had previously been playing up his hurt elbow.
