Word is DiBiase left on his own so that people in WWE might respect him more and might one day decide to use him for something in a more meaningful way. DiBiase realized he was stuck in a position at the bottom of the ladder in that he was on the road every week but wasn't being booked.
Some people backstage just kind of shrugged when they heard DiBiase decided not to re-sign with WWE. This is because DiBiase recently communicated his desire to leave the company to his co-workers.
