During the show, Punk defeated Curtis Axel. The stipulation maintained that if Punk won, Heyman would have to enter the ring with Punk. After the match, a fleeing Heyman was dragged by security guards toward Punk, who threw him into the ring. But before Punk could get his hands on Heyman, Axel snook up from behind and chop-blocked him and targeted his knee.
Heyman then had Axel handcuff Punk's hands behind his back. As Punk started fighting off Heyman and Axel with his legs, Axel stopped the Straight Edge Superstar's defense with a chair shot to his body. Axel eventually held Punk in-between the ring ropes while Heyman caned his former best friend. Heyman said that Punk broke his heart.
