Russo said he knew in his mind Hogan was going to want to win the WCW Championship that night and that everyone in the locker room wanted Booker T to become the champion. The former WCW booker said it didn't matter what Hogan wanted to do in the match or how good he wanted to look. All Russo said he cared about was Hogan not leaving with the championship.
John Laurinaitis told to Russo that Hogan was OK with his script in which everyone would make him look like he killed them but wouldn't win the championship, he said. But on the day of the pay-per-view, Eric Bischoff told Russo that Hogan wouldn't work the match.
Russo said Hogan told him, "This doesn't work for me, brother." Hogan basically pitched what he thought was a more realistic angle in which he walks out with the championship, he said. He said he then pitched Hogan on the ending to the match that inevitably went down on the basis that that idea was more realistic. Hogan was OK with that idea, he said.
