More details have emerged about WWE firing Jim Ross including when active talent was informed of the decision, who made the final call and more.

Word is WWE talent on the active roster were told about Ross's departure via text message on September 11. Talent has yet to make any public mention of Ross being done with the company.

The decision to fire Ross was made by Vince McMahon after meeting with him in Connecticut on the day the announcement was made that he was retiring. Nobody knew why Ross was in town, but there was tons of speculation that he was about to be fired. Only Vince McMahon, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Michelle Wilson were "in the know."

As has been reported, Ross and Ric Flair got heat with WWE executives after The Nature Boy hijacked the August 17 WWE 2K14 symposium. Ross, who was the moderator, was blamed for losing control.

2K Sports was thrilled with how the symposium turned out because Flair's rant garnered tons of media attention. Though 2K Sports hosted the event, WWE executives were pissed about what happened because they had something else in mind.

There was talk of releasing Ross and Flair that weekend. WWE sources thought the heat from the incident had blown over, but talk of Ross's future started up again during this week's tapings.

WWE is said to have no plans to use Flair in the near future. But a separate rumor indicates WWE has a special job in line for Flair when his heat blows over.
