Many people within WWE were said to be unhappy for different reasons after they heard the news of Jim Ross's departure from the company on September 11.
Word is WWE executive Jane Geddes sent a memo via text message and email on that day to all talent to let them know Ross retired from the company. Some people went on record to say the stuff on TV has turned into reality in that you will get fired for representing the company in a bad because it's "bad for business." Many people felt Ric Flair should've been blamed for his behavior at the August 17 WWE 2K14 symposium, not Ross.
WWE executives felt Ross, who moderated the symposium, should've switched topics and moved on when Flair went off script. The feeling is also that Ross "wasn't his normal self" that day, though he maintains he wasn't drunk.
